Roy Childress, a cherished father and grandfather from Middletown, Delaware, tragically lost his life on December 2, 2025, following a devastating four-car crash on Salem Church Road in Newark. The accident occurred at approximately 4:30 p.m. on a crisp Saturday afternoon, when Roy was a passenger in a family member’s Honda Civic. The vehicle rear-ended a Ford F-150, triggering a chain reaction involving two other vehicles.

The collision led to the Honda catching fire almost immediately, trapping Roy inside. Despite the heroic efforts of firefighters, who worked tirelessly to rescue him, Roy was pronounced dead shortly after being rushed to Christiana Hospital.
